JOB PURPOSE:

The Business Development Officer is responsible for achieving growth targets, enhancing customer acquisition, and expanding market share.. This position involves developing strategic partnerships, fostering customer relationships, and implementing effective sales strategies.

Works to improve Capita’s market position in Barbados and the Caribbean.

Contribute to further development and management (or refinement) of the Capita brand in alignment with business strategy.

Duties and Responsibilities

Sales Strategy Development:

  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies to acquire new clients and retain existing ones.
  • Collaborate with senior management to set sales goals and KPIs.

Market Research:

  • Analyze market trends and customer needs to identify new business opportunities.
  • Evaluate competitor offerings and adjust strategies accordingly

Client Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders to encourage repeat business.
  • Address client concerns and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.

Budget Management:

  • Manage the sales budget and allocate resources effectively to ensure the team has the tools and support needed to succeed.

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Monitor and report on sales metrics and team performance.
  • Prepare regular reports for management, outlining performance, potential market opportunities, and areas for improvement.

Training and Development:

  • Provide training sessions for sales team members on best practices, new products, and market trends
  • Foster a positive and motivating environment to encourage team engagement.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with marketing teams to align sales strategies with marketing campaigns.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure a smooth sales process and customer experience.

Qualifications and Experience

  • University Degree in Management, Banking and Finance, Business Administration or equivalent qualifications from a reputable University or recognized professional body.
  • A Management minimum of three (3) years’ experience in Business Development and Relationship Management.
  • A post-graduate qualification will be an asset.

Knowledge/Skills and Abilities

  • Strong selling and negotiating skills with expert knowledge in sales/closing skills.
  • Strong networking and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of financial products and services to provide integrated financial solutions.
  • Ability to conduct due diligence on strength of customer financials.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills, effective time management skills. 
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and accomplish work assignments under tight schedules.
  • Excellent decision making and prudent judgment skills.

Working Conditions

  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
  • Work may require occasional weekends and/or evening work
