JOB PURPOSE:

Assisting the Corporate or Retail Team Lead in ensuring that all targets in the credit department are met while still meeting all regulatory requirements.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain a highly motivated and well-trained staff. Supervise staff to ensure regular, high standard of performance and engagement.
  • Complete performance reviews for all assigned team members within required timeframes.
  • Approve the annual review of client files for regulatory purposes.
  • Achieve and maintain a high standard of performance through attaining assigned annual loan targets.
  • Co-ordinate and execute loan promotions.
  • Perform all duties as required in the underwriting and approval of loans/leases including:
  • Preparing loan/lease applications and closing loan documents.
  • Interviewing loan applicants.
  • Preparing approval and commitment letters
  • Verifying the accuracy of loan amounts and repayment terms.
  • Approve loan disbursements.
  • Conducting site visits as required
  • May be required to sign cheques as an approved cheque signatory.
  • May be required to sign off on incoming and outgoing security documents.
  • Follow up with attorneys on outstanding legal matters.
  • Assist the Team Lead in responding to and addressing any concerns identified in regulatory reports.  
  • Prepares reports as required by the Team Lead including Commitment report.
  • Maintain and develop existing relationships with customers as well as actively seek out new business.
  • Act as departmental liaison with regulators, external and internal auditors and Group assurance functions where required.
  • Act as departmental representative at meetings with internal and external stakeholders and customers where required.
  • Sells/cross sells the organisation’s products and services. Identify referral opportunities and make relevant referrals to assist the branch to meet its objectives.
  • Any other duties ancillary or related to the foregoing.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting OR at least 5 years banking experience in a Credit department as a Loans Officer
  • Supervisory experience would be an asset

 Knowledge/Skills and Abilities

  • Good Interpersonal skills
  • Excellent Customer Service Skills
  • Ability to Multi-task
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills with specific focus on Word & Excel

Working Conditions

  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
  • Work may require occasional weekends and/or evening work
