Sagicor Bank Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Card Operations team in the capacity of:

 

  

Authorization Officer

 

 

Review, monitor and manage authorizations for Sagicor’s Issuing and Acquiring portfolios.

 

Analyze client spending patterns, chargeback and fraud data, collaborating with all stakeholders with observations and recommendations to negate and/or minimize declines resulting in negative client experiences and unrealized spend for the Bank.

 

Create, review and analyze spreadsheets and reports on authorization and decline statistics and rates determining best measures to achieving operational and business objectives while maintaining associations and industry standards.

 

Location: Kingston

 

As an Authorization Officer, you will:

  • Maintain confidentiality as it relates to customer accounts, transactions and the Banks internal operations.
  • Keep up to date with all association mandates and ensure compliance with Visa, Mastercard and JETS operating rules and regulations, to protect licensing arrangements and mitigate non-compliance penalties.
  • Communicate/coordinate with respective stakeholders and team members to ensure they are informed and compliant with mandates, regulations and change implemented.
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders on mandates to be implemented to ensure same are undertaken and completed as required.
  • Review and analyse data from Authorization reports towards amendment of strategies, rules etc to achieve bank objective levels in-line with Association and Industry standards.
  • Review daily Online Authorization Log to ensure clients are not using SBJ’s cards in breach of the Payment Association rules and regulations and prohibited merchants.
  • Provide recommendations to improve authorization rates by liaising with all stakeholders to discuss authorization observations, challenges, recommendations to obtain with consensus on desired action to take towards shared objectives.
  • Collaborate with and foster relationships with other units/departments by promptly communicating issues and concerns, ensuring that all discrepancies are handled in a timely manner.
  • Respond in a timely manner to failed authorizations for good transactions by clients.
  • Perform other job-related duties assigned from time to time.

 

What do you need?

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Management Studies, Finance, or equivalent qualifications, from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • Training in Credit Card management for Issuers and Acquirers is an asset.
  • Sound knowledge of computer software packages including spreadsheet and word processing applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Strong analytical/critical thinking skills.
  • Strong planning, organizing and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of Prime and Online module.
  • Thorough knowledge of Card Acquiring and Issuing are an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of the bank’s card products, services and applications associated with Cards.
  • Strong knowledge of card authorization, clearing and settlement procedures.
  • Knowledge of respective card associations’ Rules and Regulations.
  • Working knowledge of Visa/Mastercard and JETs individual technical requirements for member banks.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
