Position Overview

We are seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Auditor I to support internal audit activities on a fixed-term contractual basis. The successful candidate will assist in conducting risk-based audits, evaluating internal controls, and providing value-added recommendations to improve business processes and operational efficiency. This role requires a high level of professionalism, analytical thinking, and strict confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in audit opening meetings to explain audit scope, objectives, and methodology to auditees.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of assigned business processes and document them using flowcharts and/or process narratives.
  • Identify, assess, and document inherent risks and existing controls within business processes.
  • Develop and execute risk-based audit test plans using appropriate audit approaches, procedures, and sampling techniques.
  • Perform audit testing and prepare clear, complete working papers in accordance with International Internal Auditing (IIA) Standards.
  • Evaluate the adequacy of control design and operational effectiveness in meeting business and control objectives.
  • Identify process gaps, control weaknesses, and inefficiencies, supported by appropriate audit evidence.
  • Prepare practical, value-added recommendations to address identified issues.
  • Participate in audit closing meetings and clearly communicate audit findings to stakeholders.
  • Assist in the preparation of concise audit reports detailing findings, root causes, impacts, and recommendations.
  • Ensure audit conclusions are supported by a comprehensive understanding of risks, processes, and operating environments.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Finance, Accounting, Information & Communication Technology (ICT), Engineering, or a related field from a recognized university.
  • Professional certification such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) is required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in auditing.
  • Experience in environments involving international financial debt instruments and/or the energy or power sector is considered an asset.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of internal auditing standards, principles, and practices.
  • Working knowledge of Global Internal Auditing Standards and the Code of Ethics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • High level of integrity, ethical standards, and confidentiality.
  • Proven ability to complete audits within established timelines.
  • Proficient in risk assessment, process analysis, and documentation.
  • Strong planning, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and compliance with internal and statutory requirements.

Professional Memberships & Certifications

  • Membership and/or certification from one or more of the following is required:
    • Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA)
    • Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA)
    • ICATT Practicing Audit Certificate
