Job Summary

We are seeking experienced and detail-oriented Laboratory Technicians to support hydrocarbon sampling, testing, and laboratory operations in a regulated industrial environment. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical background, hands-on laboratory experience, and the ability to accurately analyze data and produce high-quality technical reports. A strong commitment to safety, quality, and compliance is essential.

Candidates with extensive experience in hydrocarbon sampling and testing, combined with proficiency in recognized industry standards, will be well suited for this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strictly adhere to all client safety requirements, including laboratory-specific safety protocols and procedures.
  • Prepare and condition sample containers and cylinders for field and laboratory use.
  • Collect hydrocarbon samples from process equipment in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Perform laboratory analysis of process streams and interpret raw analytical data accurately.
  • Operate, inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory equipment, including analyzers, composite samplers, and moisture measurement systems.
  • Ensure equipment is properly calibrated and maintained to meet quality and compliance standards.
  • Accurately document, validate, and report test results within required timelines.
  • Maintain clear, complete, and well-organized laboratory records and reports.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to laboratory procedures and data quality.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency in:
    • Preparing sample containers and cylinders
    • Drawing and handling hydrocarbon samples
    • Analyzing laboratory streams and interpreting test data
    • Maintaining laboratory instruments and systems
    • Preparing accurate and professional technical reports
  • Strong working knowledge of current industry standards and test methods, including:
    • ASTM D2597
    • ASTM D6667
    • ASTM D1945
    • ASTM D2163
    • GPA 2199
    • GPA 2140
    • GPA 2166
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and data integrity.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team environment.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in hydrocarbon sampling, laboratory testing, equipment maintenance, and report documentation.
  • Technician’s diploma in a laboratory, quality, or related technical discipline is required.
  • Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field is considered an asset.
  • Proven technical competence and strong report-writing capabilities.
  • Experience working in regulated, safety-sensitive industrial or energy-sector environments is highly desirable.
