Associate Attorney-at-law

Background: The firm was founded in 2016 by Mr. Jason A. Hamilton. Mr. Hamilton is a former Attorney General of Saint Kitts and Nevis with over 20 years of experience in the legal profession and actively practices in several different jurisdictions in the Eastern Caribbean. The firm is engaged in a wide portfolio of criminal, civil, family and matrimonial matters, as well as, corporate and commercial, conveyancing, contentious and non-contentious probate.

Job Scope:

-        Conduct of civil litigation matters at Magistrate and High Court.

-        Minor conduct of criminal matters, such as, bail applications, case management and adjournments.

-        Conduct of some matrimonial and family matters at the Magistrate and High Court.

-        Research and preparation of advice on various areas of law.

-        Preparation of conveyancing instruments.

-        Conduct of some contentious and non-contentious probate matters.

-        Conduct of client consultations and interviews.

 

Skills:

-        Good advocacy skills.

-        Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

-        Good communication skills.

-        Good time management skills.

-        Good organizational skills including the ability to manage deadlines.

-        Strong research skills and the ability to use various research platforms.

-        Team oriented.

-        Good interpersonal skills.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

-        Bachelor of laws degree

-        Legal Education Certificate

-        At least three (3) years’ experience, preferably in litigation.
