Assistant Retail Store Manager (Kingston)

A retail company is seeking a motivated, customer-focused, and results-oriented professional to join its team as an Assistant Retail Store Manager. The successful candidate will support the Store Manager in overseeing daily operations, driving sales performance, supervising staff, and ensuring an exceptional customer experience within a fast-paced retail environment.

The ideal candidate should possess strong leadership potential, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to effectively manage both operational and customer service responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Customer Service

  • Support sales growth by actively engaging customers and recommending suitable products
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships and identify new business opportunities
  • Monitor market trends and product performance and provide recommendations to management
  • Participate in monthly sales meetings and contribute to sales improvement strategies
  • Assist with client visits and product promotions

Cash & Financial Management

  • Support the enforcement of cash handling and security procedures
  • Assist with daily sales reconciliations, cash float management, and bank lodgments
  • Monitor petty cash usage and maintain accurate records

Stock & Inventory Management

  • Assist with inventory tracking and stock replenishment activities
  • Support the ordering process to prevent shortages or overstocking
  • Conduct quality checks and ensure products are properly stored and displayed
  • Liaise with the warehouse regarding deliveries and inventory discrepancies

Team Leadership & Operations

  • Assist with onboarding, training, and coaching store staff
  • Support staff scheduling to ensure adequate coverage
  • Help maintain employee records and ensure compliance with store policies
  • Assist with disciplinary matters and payroll submissions where required
  • Support store opening and closing procedures
  • Maintain store cleanliness, presentation, and security standards

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in a retail supervisory or assistant management role
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with inventory control, pricing, and vendor coordination
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills
  • Proficiency in POS systems and retail management software
  • Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to grow into a Store Manager role
