Our client, a premier producer of high-quality ready mixed concrete is searching for an astute and knowledgeable Assistant Quality Control Manager for their Kingston location

The Role

Reporting to the Quality Control Manager, the Assistant Quality Control Manager is responsible for overseeing the company's quality control programme to ensure that established quality standards are consistently met and maintained. The role requires:

  • Implementing and sustaining a systematic development programme to optimise concrete mix performance with respect to cost-effectiveness, structural strength, and workability.
  • Facilitating the processing and testing of concrete materials to ensure they meet applicable standards.
  • Conducting sampling, inspection and testing of all concrete constituent materials, including aggregates, cement, water and admixtures to determine suitability for use.
  • Analysing, recording and interpreting tests results, reporting any discrepancies or anomalies to management.
  • Managing quality control issues on behalf of the company
  • Reviewing customer specifications and resolving complaints promptly.
  • Documenting calibration of compression machines.
  • Providing jobsite support and ensuring that concrete meets customers’ specifications.

Preferred Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Technology or related field
  • At least 3 years’ experience in the concrete or related industry
  • Strong Leadership and management skills
  • Sound track record for accuracy and consistency
  • Familiarity with industry regulations and standards related to concrete production and quality control
  • Strong demonstrated qualitative and analytical skills
  • Sound judgment, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Keen attention to details
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • A navigator who can work through complexities to resolve issues and get things done, on budget and on time.
  • Proficient computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office
  • Must be able to work on week-ends.
