Sagicor Life Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Group Corporate Accounting team in the capacity of:

 

 

Assistant Manager –
Real Estate Accounting (Grade 3C)

 

 

Provide financial reporting and accounting support to the Manager – Real Estate Accounting, Corporate Office.

 

Ensure timely and accurate preparation, analysis and reporting of financial and accounting information and management of the company's General Ledger.

 

 

Location: Kingston

 

As an Assistant Manager – Real Estate Accounting, you will:

 

  • Review General Ledger accounts for managed properties.
  • Ensure all entries for the managed properties are posted prior to the month end close.
  • Liaise with Accounts Payable and Sagicor Property Operations Units, to ensure all the required journals are posted for the reporting period.
  • Prepare financial statements for managed properties.
  • Ensure all supporting schedules required for financial statement preparation are updated.
  • Review financial statements for all managed properties.
  • Review of bank reconciliations for managed properties.
  • Liaise with Accounts Payable, Operations Units, etc. to obtain the requisite details to address reconciling items.
  • Provide guidance and support to ensure payments are processed within the stipulated timeframe on a weekly basis.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts.
  • Ensure GCT, withholding tax, etc. are completed and filed by the stipulated timeframe.
  • Provide trial balance and required schedules on a monthly basis to the AGIC reporting team.
  • Manage the accounting for Advantage General Insurance.
  • Manage audit for properties.
  • Manage the accounts payable unit for properties.
  • Perform any other job-related duties assigned from time to time.

 

What do you need?

 

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance, or equivalent qualifications, from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • ACCA Level II or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a similar position.
  • Knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS), and general accounting practices and techniques.
  • Familiarity with computerized accounting systems.
  • Working knowledge of the Companies Act and regulatory requirement.
  • Sound knowledge of computer software packages such as word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong communication skills both orally and in writing.
  • High level of motivation and excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual thinking, and problem-solving skills.
