Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Enterprise Risk Management & Group Compliance team in the capacity of:

 

 

 

Assistant Manager - Group Compliance
(Grade 3)

 

 

 

Provide support in executing the Group’s Compliance Program ensuring that compliance risks are mitigated in: Anti-Money Laundering (AML),Regulatory Compliance and FATCA Compliance.

 

Ensure the monitoring, identification, analysis and reporting of customer transactions/activity to ensure the Group is in compliance with regulatory and internal requirements.

 

 

Location: Kingston

 

As an Assistant Manager - Group Compliance, you will:

 

  • Perform risk-based analysis and approvals of compliance related matters referred to the unit in keeping with approved group procedures and regulatory guidelines.
  • Ensure the maintenance of accurate, up to date records of all actions, in-depth research and decisions taken, ensuring decisions are in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements and internal policies and procedures.
  • Complete/ensure the completion of requests for information and court orders.
  • Assist with ensuring enhanced due diligence is conducted for high-risk clients.
  • Assist with the Supervision of investigations of any suspicious activity and/or medium/high risk clients received through referral or assignment.
  • Ensure case files and information are prepared in a timely manner, retained in accordance with procedures and include appropriate recommendation to management on actions to mitigate ML compliance risks.
  • Supervise periodic review on medium and high-risk clients.
  • Supervise screening against sanctions lists and provide expert judgment regarding match validity.
  • Ensure the daily monitoring and closure of all FATCA cases in the CRM tool and all manual cases received.
  • Ensure preparation and upload of FATCA/CRS reports to the regulatory authorities for all required entities in the Sagicor Jamaica Group.
  • Monitor BWISE Filings and ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Provide support in ensuring the Group complies with Fit and Proper obligations.
  • Review audit reports, prepare logs and follow up on outstanding issues.
  • Ensure proper records and the safe keeping of all Compliance documents including customer and regulatory submissions.
  • Keep informed on changes in all related laws and regulations in all jurisdictions of responsibility and provide recommendations for changes in internal policies/procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Assist in developing and conducting compliance related training including, but not limited to, Anti-Money Laundering, and integrating compliance requirements into business processes.
  • Assist management in conducting and organizing compliance testing of the business units.
  • Perform contextual scan and periodic risk review of the AML programme for Sagicor Group and its subsidiaries.
  • Perform other job-related duties assigned from time to time.

 

What do you need?

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Banking & Finance, Accounting, Law, or related professional qualification; from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in a branch or compliance related function in the financial industry.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and legal framework is required.
  • Sound knowledge of computer software packages including spreadsheet and word processing applications.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant laws and regulations relating to the Banking, Securities, and Insurance industries.
  • Knowledge of anti-money laundering regulations and guidelines: Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) & Regulations, Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) and Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA) Guidelines on the Detection and Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Activities, Financial Services Commission (FSC) AML Guidelines, Financial Investigations Division (FID) Act and advisories, Financial Reporting Authority (FRA) Guidance, Companies Act, Securities Act, Income Tax Act, FATCA Inter-Governmental Agreement and Legislation and CRS Reporting requirements and obligations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
