Assistant Buyer (Fresh Foods)

Ensure products are always available by placing timely orders and maintaining optimal stock levels - avoiding both shortages and excess inventory.

Key Responsibilities

• Manages the flow of paperwork with EDP, warehouses and Accounting
• Effectively manages offsite storage inventory, where applicable, to ensure accuracy and availability
• Work alongside Buyer for appropriate planning and execution of seasonal plans, trends and required inventory levels
• Updates cost maintenance as required and proposes price adjustments for review
• Ensures supplier costs are accurately maintained in the system database to minimize billing discrepancies and enhance accounting efficiency
• Update cost maintenance as necessary and set proposed price changes for Buyer review
• Collect new item/specification sheets/compliance certificates from vendors and submit for review and approval with Buyer

Education/Experience

• Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Logistics & Supply Chain Management or a related field
• Minimum two (2) years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the retail environment 
• Motivated to learn items, product categories and international logistics.
• Able to accomplish tasks with minimum supervision
• Ability to work in fast paced work environments

Required Skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Good administrative skills
• Knowledge of Windows operating systems
• Excellent negotiation skills
