Apprentice Customs Clerk

Specifically assigned to handle imports and exports of containerized cargo in Pt. Lisas, Piarco with focus on the port of Port of Spain.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITES:

• Processing of shipping bills at Port of Port of Spain for all import and export containerized carge
• Prepares payment vouchers for the Overtime payments for Customs incurred at the Port.
• Collects delivery orders and make payments at the various shipping agents in and the Port of Spain area.
• Examination of containers at the CES Station in Port of Spain.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Qualifications / education:

• Minimum of 5 CXC O’Level passes inclusive of Mathematics and English
• Customs Clerk Grade 1 or 2 License

Skills / Experience:

• At least 2 years’ experience in similar position
• Should have a valid driver’s permit and be able to drive a manual vehicle

 Personal Characteristics:

• Willing to work extended hours and weekends as required.
• Must be a team player and be able to communicate well with others.
• Should be able to work under pressure and willing to work late at times in order to get the job done
