MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Administer policies and procedures to ensure timely and efficient operations in the FSC and promote the development of a robust and compliant Securities Industry.
  • Effectively monitor the activities and financial health of the regulated entities to identify early warning indicators.
  • Obtain and analyse financial statements and other documents in keeping with the filing requirements to identify potential financial problems and statutory compliance issues in regulated entities and advise the Senior Analyst, Market Intermediaries and the Manager, Securities.
  • Perform accurate and in-depth risk assessments of regulated entities and prepare written reports to guide the development of appropriate supervisory plans.
  • Participate in on-site examinations of regulated entities to determine areas of non-compliance and risks associated with the conduct of their business operations.
  • Draft examination reports to outline findings and provide recommendations on proposed enforcement actions to effect prompt corrective actions.
  • Process applications for new registrants and licensees and make a recommendation to the Senior Analyst of Market Intermediaries and the Manager.
  • Develop and utilise programs necessary to gather information and ensure compliance with filing requirements, deadlines, and financial criteria.
  • Research, collect and analyse information to complete special projects aimed at developing and/or amending regulations and guidelines to enhance the supervisory framework.
  • Research and analyse key trends and practices in the local and international financial markets to keep up to date on developments which could impact the activities of regulated entities.

 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • First degree in Actuarial Science, Economics, Finance or equivalent qualification. Post graduate degree in these or related areas would also be an asset.
  • Professional certification(s) such as FRM, CFA, FMVA, PRM designation, CAIA, or equivalent qualification would be an asset.
  • The job requires at least 3 years’ relevant work experience in comparable position and business/work environment such as a local, regional or international financial sector regulator, or within a regulated deposit taking or non-deposit taking regulated financial institution.
