We are seeking a highly qualified officer with expertise in Banking & Finance, Economics or Management Studies, with the ability to contribute effectively to the Corporation’s International Relations & Intervention Section.

 

About the JDIC:

The Jamaica Deposit Insurance Corporation (JDIC) was created by the Government of Jamaica to protect depositors and promote stability and confidence in Jamaica’s financial system, and has a mission to:

  •  Protect insured deposits against loss due to the non-viability of Deposit Taking Institutions (DTIs); 
  •  Manage the Deposit Insurance Fund consistent with its statutory objects;
  •  Support the promotion of financial consumer protection and financial inclusion;
  •  Take such necessary steps to minimize its exposure to loss.

About the Role:

  • Conduct research and analysis to inform the development, implementation, and continuous enhancement of deposit insurance, resolution, and crisis management policies and frameworks.
  • Draft, review, and maintain operating policies, procedures, and supporting systems aligned with legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and analyze domestic, regional, and global financial sector trends and international best-practice standards.
  • Prepare research outputs, technical papers, reports, dashboards, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the execution of the JDIC’s mandate to protect financial consumers and resolve non-viable financial institutions.
  • Contribute to initiatives aimed at strengthening Jamaica’s financial system stability and the broader financial safety net.

Specific Knowledge and Skills:

  • Financial Systems Research & Policy Analysis - Advanced capability to research, analyse, and interpret domestic and international financial system developments, best-practice standards, and regulatory reforms to support deposit insurance, resolution, and crisis management policy formulation.
  • Deposit Insurance & Resolution Framework Expertise - Strong technical knowledge of deposit insurance system design, resolution strategies (payouts, purchase and assumption, bridge institutions), depositor reimbursement mechanisms, and the legal and operating frameworks governing member institutions.
  • Data Analytics, Reporting & Decision Support - Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative data analysis, database management, and the preparation of high-quality research papers, dashboards, briefing notes, and reports to inform senior management, Boards, and external committees.
  • Crisis Management & Resolution Readiness - Practical experience in contingency planning, simulations, training exercises, and system testing to ensure institutional readiness for financial institution failure, depositor payouts, and broader financial crisis response.
  • Operational Execution & Financial Reconciliation Skills - Ability to support and execute resolution and payout operations, including financial reconciliation, budget monitoring, MIS validation, compliance tracking, and coordination with payout agents and transferee institutions.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Regulatory Collaboration - Strong communication and coordination skills to engage effectively with regulators, member institutions, international bodies (e.g. IADI), and internal stakeholders through consultations, surveys, reporting, and committee participation.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Word and Excel.
    • Logical and analytical approach to investigation, identification, analysis and reporting.
    • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

About the person:

a) Qualifications and Experience:

  • First degree or professional qualification in any of the following areas: Banking, Finance, Economics, Management Studies, Accounting or equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ working experience in the financial sector environment, in the areas of supervision, regulation and or in the financial services industry.
