Duggan Consulting Limited is looking for a motivated Actuarial Analyst to join our team. This is a full-time role offering the opportunity to work on pension valuations, actuarial analysis and client reporting.

Key Responsibilities

As an Actuarial Analyst, you will:

  • Conduct and draft pension plan funding valuations and IAS reports for review by the Actuary.
  • Attend client meetings alongside the Actuary to present and explain valuation results.
  • Review, validate and process pension administration data for actuarial analysis.
  • Analyze trust deeds, plan rules, investment contracts, historical actuarial reports and market data.
  • Verify pension plan accounts, demographic data and membership changes across valuation periods.
  • Calculate member benefits, liabilities, investment returns and plan surpluses/deficits.
  • Determine payments due to members upon plan wind-up, including surplus distribution and prepare reports for clients.
  • Value benefit obligations and explain changes in the results from one period to the next.
  • Translate plan rules into formulas to calculate benefits payable to members on exit of a pension plan, including retirement, termination or death.
  • Support the Actuary with additional tasks as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics or a related field.
  • At least one completed exam from a recognized actuarial body (preferred but not required).
  • Experience in pensions or actuarial work is an asset.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with pension regulations, actuarial models and funding methods is an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
