JOB TITLE: Accounts Clerk
LOCATION: Chaguaramas
SALARY: $7,273.00
CONTRACT: Six (6) Months                                                                
REPORTS TO: Group CFO                                               
DEPT: Finance

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a meticulous and organized Accounts Clerk to support our finance operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Accounting activities, including journal postings. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software is essential, with knowledge of Sage 50 considered an asset. Strong communication skills and attention to detail are required to effectively coordinate with internal teams and external vendors and clients.

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 1. Accounts Payable (AP):

  • Process and record supplier invoices and payments
  • Manage purchase orders and ensure proper documentation
  • Maintain Accounts Payable aging reports and follow up on overdue amounts
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies
  • Manage petty cash transactions and ensure proper documentation
  • Prepare and process payments in a timely manner
2. Accounts Receivable (AR):
  • Generate and send customer invoices, including quotations as needed
  • Monitor Accounts Receivable aging and follow up on overdue accounts
  • Reconcile client accounts and resolve billing discrepancies
  • Support collection efforts and maintain accurate records
3. General Accounting:
  • Post journal entries accurately and in a timely manner
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities
  • Reconcile General Ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies
  • Support internal and external audit processes by providing required documentation
4. Other Responsibilities:
  • Perform any other related tasks as assigned to support the finance department
  HSE RESPONSIBILITIES  
  • The Employee is required to support all Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality (HSSEQ) initiatives, policies, procedures and activities in all aspects of the Company’s operations.
  • The Employee must immediately report any unsafe conditions to the Manager
  • Wearing of proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as safety vest, hard hat, boots, safety glasses, is compulsory when visiting vessels or ports.
  • General office Safety responsibilities
    QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE  
  • Accounting Certification or a minimum of 3 years accounting or finance related experience in a corporate environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Experience with accounting packages; knowledge of Sage 50 is an asset
  • Strong communication skills for effective coordination
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
