Accounting Technician

Job Objective: Accounting Technician – Associated Companies shall be responsible for accurately recording daily financial transactions (income, expenses, invoices, payments) into the ledgers, manage accounts payable/receivables, reconcile bank accounts, process payroll and prepare financial statements for the associated companies focusing on data accuracy and compliance using appropriate software technologies.

 

Key Functions and Responsibilities

 

  • Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts for the associated companies in accordance with established accounting standards.
  • Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements ensuring compliance with established accounting standards and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Maintains and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and appropriately classified.
  • Perform account reconciliations, including bank accounts and all key balance sheet accounts.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely reporting. (ie: Month end accounts due fifteen (15) days after month end and year end accounts due two (2) months after year end).
  • Maintains fixed assets register and depreciation schedules
  • Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual budget reports and forecasting and variance reports
  • Monitor compliance with internal controls, accounting policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare audit schedules and supporting documents for annual external audit or accountant compilation.
  • Collaborate with external accountants/auditors during the process of developing their reports
  • Ensures up-to-date company registry filing for all associated companies
  • Completes tax filings and ensures compliance with statutory submissions and reporting requirements.
  • Maintains accurate and organized financial records and documentation
  • Manages project timelines, budget deliverables and financial oversight for resources and on-going initiatives
  • Assist with cashflow forecasting and liquidity management to support operational and regulatory requirements
  • Any other duties that may be assigned to you by your supervisor.

Education, Knowledge and Experience

 

  • Level 1 ACCA, CIMA, CPA or CMA
  • Degree in Accounting and/or Finance
  • Basic knowledge of statutory regulations
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Tools and software relevant to the job functions (eg: Xero)
  • Strong organizational and implementation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to work in a team and adhere to deadlines
  • A minimum of two (2) years performing similar functions, preferably in a small  or medium enterprise.

 

OR

 

  • Any equivalent combination of qualifications, training and work experience will be given consideration.
