Position Summary
The Accounting Officer is responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records for Genba Lounge & Grill.
This includes daily reconciliation of sales and cash, recording of purchases and expenses, managing petty cash, monitoring inventory costs, and preparing weekly and monthly financial reports.
The role requires precision, integrity, and strong coordination with the Restaurant Manager, Human Resource department, and Inventory teams to ensure efficient financial control and compliance with company policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Record and verify daily sales summaries from the Point of Sale (POS) system and manual logs.
- Reconcile cash, credit card, and electronic transactions at the close of each day.
- Ensure all receipts, invoices, and supporting documents are filed systematically.
- Monitor and maintain the petty cash fund, ensuring proper approvals and weekly reconciliation.
- Verify and record supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy of pricing, quantities, and Goods Receival Note (GRN) entries.
- Maintain an updated supplier payment schedule and ensure timely settlement of accounts.
- Process credit card statements, utilities, and statutory payments as scheduled.
- Actively manage accounts receivable balances to ensure timely collection and maintain minimal outstanding receivables.
- Coordinate with the HR Department to process payroll accurately and on time.
- Ensure proper calculation and remittance of statutory payments
- Maintain payroll-related records and employee payment summaries.
- Support HR in preparing compliance documentation for audits or inspections.
- Track Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and identify variances in food and beverage costs.
- Monitor and report on wastage, spoilage, and yield reports for management review.
- Assist with periodic stock counts and reconciliation exercises.
Prepare and submit the following relevant reports within required timelines. - Adhere to all company financial policies, SOPs, and cash-handling protocols.
- Identify and report any discrepancies, losses, or irregularities immediately.
- Support the implementation of improved internal control systems to prevent errors and theft.
- Maintain confidentiality of all financial and employee information.
- Prepare monthly General Consumption Tax (GCT) schedules and supporting documentation.
- Accurately compute output tax from sales and input tax from purchases, ensuring correct classification of standard-rated, zero-rated, and exempt transactions.
Qualifications & Experience
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Minimum 2–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the hospitality or restaurant industry.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, and POS-based reporting systems.
- Strong knowledge of Jamaican tax and statutory requirements.
- Exceptional attention to detail, confidentiality, and time management skills.
