Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Insurance Accounting team in the capacity of:

Accounting Officer –
Insurance Accounting (Contract) (Grade 3)

Reconcile entries for insurance contracts, resolve related differences and escalate as appropriate.

Maintain assigned accounts and related reconciliations.

Carry out testing, document procedures and results, escalate issues, support coordination, contribute to meetings, and assist with research to ensure smooth project execution.

Location: Kingston

As an Accounting Officer – Insurance Accounting, you will:

• Assist in the preparation of financials statements.
• Assist in the preparation and execution of the main finance project.
• Document all testing procedures, results, and any issues encountered in a clear and organized manner.
• Assist in coordinating project activities and keeping track of progress against timelines and deliverables and contribute to meetings by sharing updates, taking notes, and ensuring action items are recorded and followed up.
• Perform or monitor key internal control procedures, surrounding the suspense balances and other assigned accounts.
• Prepare journals and reconcile Sub-Ledger to General ledger for accounts managed in the Insurance Accounting Department.
• Prepares inputs for Risk Integrity run.
• Perform any other job-related duties assigned.

What do you need?

• Bachelor’s in Accounting or ACCA Level II qualifications, or equivalent qualifications from a recognized tertiary institution.
• Two (2) years’ working experience in accounting or related field.
• Sound knowledge of computer software packages including spreadsheet and word processing applications.
• Good human relations skills.
• Attention to details and excellent time management skills.
