Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Insurance Accounting team in the capacity of:

 

 

 

Accounting Officer –
Insurance Accounting (Grade 3)

 

 

Ensure commission payrolls for brokers and assigned agents are completed correctly and timely.

 

Prepare assigned commission and intercompany journals, reconciliations and analyses.

 

Prepare small financial statements for one of the insurance entities in the Group.

 

Location: Kingston

 

As an Accounting Officer – Insurance Accounting, you will:

 

  • Ensure that both ILTL & EBD (Group Life and Health, Pension and Personal Accident) commission payrolls for Brokers are completed correctly and signed off to meet the schedule pay dates monthly.
  • Ensure that all commission correspondents are completed accurately and emailed to both brokers and agents.
  • Prepare Personal Accident, First Year Commission and EBD Renewals for EBD and ILTL agents.
  • Prepare assigned commission, intercompany and monthly journals ahead of general ledger close.
  • Reconcile assigned Sub-Ledger to General ledger for Insurance accounts for both Sagicor Life Jamaica Limited (SLJ) and Sagicor Cayman (SLC) including intercompany and commission related accounts.
  • Prepare assigned financial statements and reporting package by predetermined deadline.
  • Prepare reinsurance payments, entries and related reconciliations for reinsurance entities in the group.
  • Perform any other job-related duties assigned.

 

What do you need?

 

  • Bachelor’s in Accounting or ACCA Level II qualifications, or equivalent qualifications from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • Two (2) years’ working experience in accounting or related field.
  • Sound knowledge of computer software packages including spreadsheet and word processing applications.
  • Proficiency in accounting entries.
  • Good human relations skills.
  • Attention to details and excellent time management skills.
