The accountant is responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyse financial information, and to assist in preparing accurate and timely financial reports and statements while ensuring appropriate accounting control procedures.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Prepares and processes daily financial transactions to ensure accurate and effective maintenance of the company’s financial records, including reconciling all balance sheet accounts and preparing and posting journal entries.
  2. Assists in the preparation of Head Office reports, management reports, and audit schedules, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established timelines.
  3. Prepares audit schedules and financial statements in accordance with established timelines and reporting requirements.
  4. Assists in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial projections within agreed timeframes.
  5. Plans, executes, and oversees monthly and quarterly stock counts, ensuring all variances are investigated and resolved within three (3) working days in accordance with Blue Books Policy.
  6. Prepares inventory projections and cost analyses within stipulated deadlines.
  7. Reviews general ledger reconciliations to ensure accuracy and consistency across the team.
  8. Assists in the preparation of taxation packages, ensuring all statutory deductions are accurate and remitted to the appropriate regulatory bodies.
  9. Supports payroll processing (unionized and non-unionized) as assigned, ensuring accurate deductions, timely remittances, and on-time employee payments.
  10. Maintains the fixed asset register, ensuring all assets are recorded and depreciated in accordance with company policy by the third (3rd) working day of the following month.
  11. Promotes and upholds a strong culture of governance within the team, driving the achievement of zero rolling issues and new audit findings.
  12. Manages treasury activities by projecting cash flows, identifying funding gaps in both TT$ and foreign currency, and driving improvements in cash collections and accounts payable management.
  13. Collaborates with the senior finance team to mitigate organizational risks by analyzing trends, reducing costs, and improving operational efficiency.
  14. Establishes performance standards and key performance indicators (KPIs) and conducts performance evaluations for direct reports in alignment with organizational objectives.
  15. Liaises with external stakeholders, including customers, contractors, and suppliers, as required.
  16. Ensures compliance with company and departmental strategies, as well as the Quality Management System, particularly in relation to health, safety, security, and environmental policies and procedures.
  17. Performs any other related duties as required to support the role and overall business objectives.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in Business Management/ Financial Management or ACCA Qualified.
  • At least three (3) years similar experience within the Manufacturing Industry.
  • Exposure to local and international accounting standards will be an asset.
  • Experience in using Microsoft D365FO will be considered an asset
