Position Overview
The Accountant will support the financial management and reporting functions of The Cliff Hotel. This role requires a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and sound judgment. We are seeking an individual who is committed to building a career, developing professionally, and growing with the organization, rather than someone seeking a routine or transactional role.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate accounting records and general ledger entries
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports
- Analyzing financial reports
- Assist with the preparation of bank, balance sheet, and account reconciliations
- Assist with managing accounts payable and accounts receivable function
- Maintain and update fixed asset register
- Assist in coordinating monthly and annual inventory counts.
- Assist with the monthly inventory reconciliation process.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Assist with internal controls, compliance, and audit processes
- Liaise with external auditors and advisors as required
- Ensure adherence to applicable accounting standards and statutory requirements
- Demonstrate the capability and interest to take on supervisory responsibilities as the role evolves
- Any other task assigned by the department supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of five years of relevant accounting experience
- Bachelor’s degree with a major in Accounting required
- ACCA or CPA designation is preferred
- Experience using QuickBooks is preferred
- Auditing experience is an asset
- Prior hotel or hospitality industry experience is preferred
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Proven integrity, discretion, and reliability
- Demonstrated leadership potential and willingness to manage others over time
