Our client is an authorised dealer for heavy industrial equipment, providing sales, parts, service and financing solutions to customers across a wide range of industries. We are seeking a driven and knowledgeable Machine Sales Consultant to join their team and help grow their equipment portfolio.
Reporting to the Sales Manager, the Machine Sales Consultant is responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of customer accounts. You will identify new business opportunities, deliver tailored equipment proposals, and guide customers through the full sales cycle — from initial contact through to delivery and after-sale follow-up.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential customers, understanding their operational needs and identifying equipment solutions.
- Prepare and present proposals for Caterpillar machinery and related services, ensuring customers are informed of the full value offering.
- Manage the end-to-end sales process, coordinating timely delivery of quotations and equipment.
- Conduct equipment operational and cost-benefit analyses to support customer decision-making.
- Negotiate pricing and terms within internal policies, seeking appropriate approvals when required.
- Complete government tenders and bids as required.
- Collect and process financial documentation for customers financing purchases through Caterpillar Financial Services.
- Monitor and follow up on outstanding customer account balances to support timely collections.
- Maintain up-to-date records in the CRM system, tracking leads, opportunities and customer interactions.
- Identify and report on competitor activity and market intelligence to support strategic decisions.
- Attend port of entry to confirm arrival of customer equipment where required.
- Coordinate with Service, Warranty, Parts, and Logistics departments to ensure a seamless customer experience.
- Provide coverage for Sales Coordinator duties in their absence, including equipment dispatch and quotation setup.
Qualifications & Experience
- An Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
- 3–5 years of experience in a professional sales or technical sales role.
- Spanish language proficiency at a technical level (listening and reading).
- Demonstrated ability to manage a significant sales portfolio — this role carries a USD $6M annual sales target.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to reconcile competing interests and close deals.
- Technical aptitude — able to advise on the selection and configuration of complex machinery.
- Excellent relationship-building and communication skills across all levels of an organisation.
- Analytical mindset with experience in investment and machinery cost reporting.
- Team player with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Creative problem-solver, able to improve working methods and resolve challenges constructively.
