Job Summary:
The Assistant Mechanical Technician will assist the Mechanics with maintenance servicing/repairs of vehicles and diesel/electrical forklifts to include but not limited to troubleshooting, diagnosing, servicing, and overhauling various types of engines, mechanical and other general maintenance work as required.
Duties/Responsibilities/Assist the Auto Mechanic with the following duties:
• Troubleshooting and diagnostic procedures
• Inspect vehicle systems/components and determine preferred repair action.
• Service and repairing brake system.
• Disassemble/ assembling cylinder head.
• Disassemble/ assemble engine bottom blocks and subassemblies.
• Service and repair motor vehicle engines
• Service and repairing fuel system and air brake system.
• Service and repairing steering and suspension system components.
• Repair ignition systems
• Service and repair starting and charging systems.
• Diagnose and overhaul engines and associated engines components.
• Carry out basic mechanical cutting operations and welding.
• Order for replacement of equipment parts as required, perform repairs as ordered, and keep record of servicing on equipment.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Possess a valid driver’s license. Trucks/MPV
• Ability to perform physical activities such as climbing, bending, balancing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, crawling, reaching, crouching, push/pull objects, and being able to lift-up to 50 pounds at a time.
• Strong knowledge of the hazards involved in occupation, and the safety precautions.
Education and Experience:
• NCTVET Level 2 Certificate in Automotive Repairs.
• Minimum two years’ experience working as a general mechanic.
• Knowledge of Forklift would be an asset.
