The Public Transport Service Corporation (PTSC), in its drive towards improving and expanding its services, is pleased to invite applications for the following CONTRACT position:
HR – GENERALIST (Industrial Relations)
JOB SUMMARY:
The incumbent will be required to create and develop people practice and maintain a positive working relationship between the Corporation and its employees.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensuring the enforcement of Industrial Relation laws and practices by the Corporation.
- Championing the Corporation’s Policies and Rules of Engagement among the staff.
- Counselling and providing guidance and support to employees and resolving employee related issues.
- Investigation and identifying the root cause of issues and misunderstandings within various departments with the objective of resolution.
- Observing and tracking employees’ performance through appraisal records at regular intervals.
- Assisting with termination decisions and attending and recording exit interviews.
- To attend to matters at the Ministry of Labour, Registration Recognition and Certification Board and Industrial Court.
- To prepare IR briefs, evidence and arguments, written statements and assist with cases and legal responses on matters before the Registration Recognition and Certification Board, Ministry of Labour and the Industrial Court.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management or any related field.
- Post Graduate Certification in Industrial Relations.
- Postgraduate qualification in Business Administration will be an asset.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a generalist HR role with at least 2 years of supervisory experience
- Working experience with trade unions, collective bargaining, negotiations, and conciliations will be an asset. Any equivalent combination of qualification and experience.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Excellent communication oral, written and problem solving skills.
- Demonstrated strong analytical skills, leadership and management skills.
- Knowledge of the Labour laws of Trinidad and Tobago will be an asset.
- Good mediation skills.
- Ability to maintain effective relationships with Managers and Employees.
- High level of integrity.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
