JOB SUMMARY
The Quality Control Technician at SAMBA is responsible for conducting quality assurance and quality control activities throughout the production process to ensure all products meet established quality, food safety, and regulatory standards. The role includes laboratory testing, production line inspections, documentation, monitoring of utilities and raw materials, and maintaining compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HSE requirements, and internal quality standards.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor pasteurizer temperature settings and pasteurization units (P.U.’s) on an hourly basis and accurately record findings.
- Conduct in-process product testing for pH, colour, total acidity, brix, taste, and other required quality parameters, recording all results with the date and time.
- Monitor bottled product quality for clarity, CO2 levels, air content, torque, crimping, fill volume, and related specifications.
- Monitor packaged products to ensure compliance with labeling, coding, and final packaging standards.
- Conduct hourly inspection checks on finished products during bottling operations at the:
- Filler/Crowner
- Sleever/Labeler
- Case Packer
- Identify, record, and report product defects or irregularities, including:
- Low fills
- Incorrect or missing prints
- Incorrect Best Before End (BBE) dates
- Missing or incorrectly placed sleeves
- Missing crowns
- Missing bottles in cases
- Monitor concentrations of CIP (Clean-in-Place) solutions as required for bottling production.
- Perform water analyses on incoming water supplies, including plant, brewing, blending, water softener, and boiler systems, and maintain accurate records.
- Monitor incoming raw water quality by batch or truckload.
- Conduct routine quality control testing on raw materials, packaging materials, brewing materials, and finished products.
- Maintain and update Quality Control logbooks, laboratory records, analytical methods, standards, and related documentation in both digital and hard copy formats.
- Generate weekly or periodic graphs, charts, and reports on quality control activities and findings.
- Maintain, calibrate, and verify laboratory equipment, and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
- Ensure the organization, cleanliness, and sanitation of the laboratory and designated production areas in accordance with GMP and company standards.
- Support investigations into non-conforming products and assist with corrective and preventive actions.
- Adhere to all company Quality, Food Safety, Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned.

REPORTING REQUIREMENTS
- Prepare and maintain daily reports on liquid inspections, batch quality control checks, and bottling inspections.
- Maintain accurate logs of all testing and inspection activities.
- Submit weekly reports on irregularities, deviations, and non-conforming products.
- Provide monthly recommendations and improvement initiatives aimed at reducing non-conforming products and improving quality standards.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of five (5) CXC/GCE O’ Level subjects, including Mathematics and English.
- Formal QC/QA laboratory training would be an asset.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a QC/QA Laboratory Technician role within a manufacturing environment.
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
