The Port Authority of Jamaica wishes to recruit a SECURITY AND LOSS PREVENTION SUPERVISOR at the Montego Bay Free Zone for a period of one year.

SALARY SCALE: $5.6M per annum.

JOB SUMMARY:

The position performs security and loss prevention supervisory duties for the Special Economic Zone (Montego Bay Free Zone - MBFZ) to ensure that activities are carried out in compliance with established security policies and procedures and ensures that appropriate steps are taken to secure and safeguard assets within the Zone.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

• BSc. in Business Administration or Security Management or its equivalent.
• A minimum of three (3) years in the security field.
• Security and Investigative training.
• Experience in Loss Prevention and Surveillance Systems.
• Experience working in an industrial park or Special Economic Zone.
• A valid driver's license.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS WITH JOB:

• Required to work night shifts, weekends and public holidays.
• May work long hours from time to time.
• Some exposure to the risks associated with the position.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Asset Protection & Control

• Oversee the protection of Free Zone assets and tenant properties and shared infrastructure.
• Conduct routine and random inspections of warehouses, offices, and common areas to deter theft or identify any compromised assets.
• Ensure compliance with asset sign-out / transfer procedures, Jamaica Special Economic Zone and Jamaica Customs Agency policies.  Also validating areas such as e-waste movement with approved National Environmental Planning Agency policy.
• Ensure that Port Authority of Jamaica lands are monitored on a timely basis and that unusual activities such as squatting are dealt with immediately.

Access Control Oversight

• Supervise and audit access control badge issuance, revocation, and access levels, parking permits and the use of parking stickers for approved persons on the MBFZ.
• Monitor after-hours access and high-risk access activities and initiate investigations where irregularities or unusual entry patterns are identified.

Surveillance & Monitoring

• Oversee CCTV monitoring, ensuring cameras cover vulnerable points.
• Maintain a video evidence log for investigations.

Incident Investigation & Reporting

• Lead preliminary investigations into incidents involving theft, loss, vandalism, or security breaches.
• Maintain relationships with the Jamacia Constabulary Force and ensure timely and periodic patrolling of the zone.

Staff & Contractor Oversight

• Monitor security officers and contractors for collusion risks and for compliance with loss prevention procedures.
• Verify cleaning crews, maintenance teams, and vendors follow access protocols.

Policy Enforcement & Compliance

• Ensure that Free Zone loss prevention policies are deployed across all tenants.
• Support compliance with SEZ regulations, customs controls, and AEO standards.
• Participate in audits, inspections and regulatory reviews related to security and loss prevention.

Training & Awareness

• Deliver basic loss prevention training to contracted security guards and staff.
• Promote a “see something, say something” culture on the Zone among contracted security guards.

Risk Assessment & Prevention Planning

• Conduct periodic loss risk assessments by building or operation type.
• Recommend procedural or physical improvements (lighting, locks, signage).

Documentation & Metrics

• Maintain a loss prevention register (incidents, values, outcomes and present that as part of the monthly reports on the Zone’s operations) and track the necessary KPIs (number of thefts, response time, etc.).

Tenant & Stakeholder Liaison

• Act as the loss prevention focal point for tenants and the MBFZ Administration.
• Support MBFZ re-entry procedures to secure revenues and address receivables and matters related to rental arrears.
• Any other duties assigned.
