PURPOSE OF JOB
The Petroleum Systems Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of fuel dispensing and storage systems across all company sites. This includes fuel dispensers, ATG systems (including probes and tank monitoring equipment), motors, and associated infrastructure. The role supports the delivery of safe, compliant, and efficient fuelling operations while also contributing to broader maintenance activities as required to ensure overall site functionality and operational excellence.
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on petroleum systems, including fuel dispensers, pumps, motors, and associated equipment.
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on fuel dispensing systems, electrical and mechanical components, and control interfaces.
- Conduct routine inspections of petroleum systems, including dispensers, tanks, and ATG systems (probes, sensors, and monitoring equipment), to identify potential issues and ensure optimal performance.
- Install, test, and commission petroleum equipment and related systems as required.
- Execute the preventive maintenance (PM) program for fuel systems, ensuring timely completion and adherence to established standards.
- Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to receive work orders, update job status, record maintenance activities, and support accurate data capture for reporting and analysis.
- Ensure compliance with all safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies related to fuel operations and hazardous materials.
- Support calibration and verification activities for fuel systems and liaise with relevant vendors and regulatory bodies as required or assigned.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns and emergency maintenance requests related to petroleum systems to minimize operational downtime.
- Train and support maintenance staff and relevant stakeholders in the operation, basic troubleshooting, and safety requirements of petroleum systems.
- Provide support across general maintenance activities as required, including assisting with non-fuel related tasks to ensure timely resolution of operational issues and overall facility reliability.
- Collaborate with the wider maintenance team to support cross-functional tasks, site readiness, inspections, and urgent operational demands.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system reliability, efficiency, and compliance across all fuel operations.
- Support all sustainability initiatives.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- Certification or vocational training in Petroleum Systems.
- Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in installation and maintenance of fuel operating equipment.
- Knowledge of regulatory and safety requirements for fuel operations.
- Physical dexterity and manual ability.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Availability to work on call, including weekends and evenings.
- Basic computer literacy, with the ability to effectively use digital tools and systems for maintenance operations.
- Ability to utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to receive work orders, update job status, record maintenance activities, and support accurate data capture for reporting and analysis.
