JOB SUMMARY
Standards Officer I plans and organizes research and testing programmes and advisory services related to the development and implementation of Standards and Quality Assurance activities.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful applicant will be required to
- Recommends methods of sampling, testing, quality control and certification of goods and service.
- Serves as a Representative of the Bureau at various Technical Committees, Meetings and Seminars, as designated by the Director.
- Assists in the conduct of affairs of the Bureau by consultation, through internal Committees.
- Plans and organizes testing and advisory services related to the development and implementation of Standards and Quality Assurance activities, Conformity Assessment Testing and Analysis as well as marketing of the services offered by the laboratory.
- Conduct technical evaluations on a wide range of materials and samples, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment and instrumentation.
- Supervises and trains Junior and Technical Staff.
- Performs the variety of tasks related to the summary listed overleaf.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
1. Training as evidenced by a first degree in an appropriate field of professional engineering or physical science from a recognized University and training in Quality Control and Standards.
2. The experience necessary to research material, literature, and technical data requires approximately two (2) to three (3) years of employment with a company in a related position.
REMUNERATION
Salary will be paid in Range 56 ($10,725 – $12,434 - $13,263), plus a Travelling Allowance of $2,400 monthly. A Gratuity of 20% will be paid at the end of the contract period.

ASSETS:
- Mechanical Engineering qualification will be preferred.
- Knowledge of or experience working in ISO/IEC 17025 environment is preferred.

- Minimal exposure to chemicals.
