Assistant Accountant
The Assistant Accountant supports the finance function by preparing accurate accounting records, reconciliations, journals, taxes, VAT payments, management accounts, and financial reports for the parent company and subsidiaries. The role also assists with GL coding, intercompany reconciliations, fixed assets, system improvements, staff development, health and safety compliance, and special projects as required.
Main Functions/Responsibilities:
- Preparation of quarterly taxes and VAT payments for parent company and subsidiaries
- Preparation of monthly management accounts for subsidiaries by the 15th of the following month
- Preparation of weekly and monthly bank reconciliations for parent company and subsidiaries
- Preparation of salary journals for subsidiaries by the 10th of the following month
- Assist in assigning the general ledger (GL) codes to correctly capture all expenses for parent company and subsidiaries
- Prepare monthly journals for parent company and its subsidiaries
- Assist in the preparation of monthly revenue comparisons for parent company and subsidiaries
- Monthly reconciliation of intercompany accounts between parent company & subsidiaries
- Monthly maintenance of fixed asset register for parent company and subsidiaries
- Assist with the implementation of any modification of the accounting system and any changes to accounting control procedures
- Develop staff through training, coaching and conduct performance appraisals
- Effect the Organizations’ Health and Safety policy
- Assist with related special projects as requested
- Any other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- Accounting or Finance Degree or Level 2 ACCA Qualified
- 2-3 years’ experience in a computerized accounting environment
- Bachelor’s Degree and General Ledger and Management reporting experience
