The Deputy Country Manager plays a critical strategic and financial leadership role in supporting the General Manager in driving the overall performance, profitability, and governance of the company. The position focuses on aligning operational execution with the company’s strategic plan, ensuring financial discipline, regulatory compliance, and sustainable growth while safeguarding the organization’s assets and reputation .
From a strategic perspective, the role supports the development and execution of market, sales, and business plans aimed at achieving revenue targets, expanding market share, and strengthening the company’s competitive position. This includes contributing to pricing strategies, new business development initiatives, promotion of services, and representation of the company with key stakeholders, regulatory authorities, financial institutions, and industry associations. The Deputy Country Manager also works closely with regional and corporate leadership to ensure alignment with broader network objectives.
Financial oversight is a core responsibility of the role. The Deputy Country Manager reviews and validates the accuracy of financial statements, manages receivables and payables, oversees cash flow, and ensures timely collections and payments. The position is responsible for preparing and monitoring budgets and forecasts, identifying cost-reduction opportunities, guarding budget execution, and providing the Board and senior executives with accurate financial and operational statistics to support decision-making. The role also ensures compliance with tax, statutory, and audit requirements, and works with corporate finance and audit teams to maintain strong internal controls and asset protection systems .
Operationally, the Deputy Country Manager coordinates cross-functional departments—including sales, marketing, operations, finance, HR, and warehousing—to drive efficiency, productivity, and high levels of customer satisfaction. The role enforces adherence to SOPs, monitors performance against KPIs, and supports leadership development and accountability across the team, ensuring that the company operates to corporate standards while achieving its financial and strategic objectives.
Requirements
• Proven experience in the logistics/freight industry (air and ocean)
• Strong finance, accounting, and analytical skills
• Office Services, Money Transfer, Marketing and Restaurant experience an asset
• Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills (both written and verbal)
• Strong computer and interpersonal skills with a proactive “can do” attitude
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Logistics, or related field
• Five to seven years of related experience and/or training
