Role Summary
The Supervisor / Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a health-focused café, ensuring high standards in food quality, customer experience, hygiene, and team performance. This role requires strong leadership, operational control, and a genuine understanding of health-conscious food preparation and service.
You will lead a team delivering nutritious meals, smoothies, and baked products while maintaining a clean, welcoming, and wellness-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operations & Service Delivery
- Supervise day-to-day café operations (front-of-house and kitchen coordination)
- Ensure all food and beverages meet health-focused standards (fresh, balanced, properly prepared)
- Monitor service speed, presentation, and consistency
- Maintain a clean, organized, and aesthetically pleasing environment aligned with a wellness brand
2. Team Leadership & Supervision
- Lead, schedule, and supervise staff (cooks, prep staff, guest engagement team)
- Train team members on:
- Healthy food handling and preparation
- Customer service excellence
- Product knowledge (ingredients, benefits, dietary considerations)
- Address performance issues and enforce workplace standards
- Motivate team to deliver a positive, energetic customer experience
3. Customer Experience
- Ensure every customer interaction reflects a premium, health-conscious brand
- Handle complaints professionally and resolve issues promptly
- Guide customers on menu options (e.g., vegan, gluten-free, low-carb choices)
- Maintain a warm, welcoming atmosphere
4. Inventory & Cost Control
- Monitor stock levels (fresh produce, health ingredients, packaging)
- Reduce waste and control food costs
- Assist with ordering and supplier coordination
- Ensure proper storage of perishable items
5. Compliance & Hygiene
- Ensure compliance with Jamaican public health and food safety standards
- Enforce strict hygiene, sanitation, and food handling procedures
- Conduct routine checks on kitchen and service areas
6. Sales & Performance
- Support daily sales targets and upselling of healthy options
- Monitor team productivity and shift performance
- Provide feedback to management on operations and improvements
Requirements
Experience
- Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a supervisory role in:
- Café / Restaurant / Health Food Establishment
- Experience working with health-conscious meals, smoothies, or specialty diets is a strong asset
Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Solid understanding of healthy food concepts (vegan, keto, low-sugar, natural ingredients)
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability
- Basic knowledge of inventory and cost control
