JOB SUMMARY
The Marketing Officer is responsible for promoting the credit union’s products and services, driving brand visibility, and identifying and developing new business prospects. The role focuses on market research, lead generation, member acquisition, campaign execution, and relationship building with key stakeholders to support sustainable growth and revenue objectives.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications or related field.
- 2 years of experience in marketing, preferably in financial services or a credit union.
- Strong knowledge of digital marketing, social media platforms, and marketing analytics.
- Certification in Supervisory Management would be an asset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Customer-service oriented with a proactive attitude.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe Suite, etc.), and content management systems.
- Knowledge of the Universa System would be an asset.
- Proficiency in social media management, digital marketing, and content creation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Marketing Strategy & Planning
- Develop and execute marketing plans, campaigns, and promotional activities.
- Identify, set, and pursue business prospects, including new markets, partnerships, and client/member segments.
- Conduct market research and analyze trends to support business development initiatives.
- Generate leads and support conversion into active business through targeted outreach.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, partners, and prospective clients.
- Coordinate marketing events, presentations, and outreach activities.
- Monitor and report on marketing performance, campaign outcomes, and prospect pipelines.
- Support product launches and initiatives aligned with organizational growth goals.
- Ensure all marketing activities comply with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
Advertising & Promotions
- Plan, execute, and monitor campaigns for membership, loans, savings, insurance, and other services.
- Develop content for social media, website, newsletters, and print media.
- Design promotional materials such as flyers, banners, posters, and brochures.
- Foster and maintain relationships with key media outlets, influencers, and suppliers to create opportunities that boost the Credit Union's market presence.
Digital Marketing & Social Media
- Manage the credit union’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, etc.).
- Create engaging posts, run paid ads, track performance metrics, and report analytics.
- Update and maintain the credit union’s website to ensure accuracy and relevance.
Member Engagement & Events
- Organize and participate in member recruitment drives, workshops, and community outreach events.
- Coordinate internal events to promote financial literacy and member services.
- Assist in creating campaigns for youth engagement, government employees, and targeted member segments.
Market Research & Reporting
- Conduct surveys, focus groups, and competitor analysis to inform marketing decisions.
- Track campaign effectiveness, report on KPIs, and recommend improvements.
- Provide monthly reports on marketing activities, engagement metrics, and membership growth.
Brand Management
- Maintain brand consistency across all communications and promotional materials.
- Ensure all marketing materials adhere to credit union policies and regulatory requirements.
Collaboration
- Work closely with departments to support campaigns and initiatives.
- Liaise with external vendors, media houses, and graphic designers for creative outputs.
OTHER KEY DUTIES
- Support market research activities semi-annually.
- Attend assigned meetings as required.
- Maintain and update CU’s product and services internal catalogue.
- Conduct periodic after sales/transaction teleservices as a means of reassuring member’s satisfaction.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of Marketing & Business Development Policies and Procedures.
- Assist with the management/updating of Department Risk Register.
- Any other duties that may be required from time to time.
- Completing POCA, AML/CFT and other regulatory required courses and exams.
- Completing CPD Online and other developmental courses.
- Assist in preparation for any CU related activities (Eg. AGM, Retreat, Expo etc.)

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS
- Required to work beyond normal working hours and peak periods, to meet deadlines and targets.
- Required to travel for extended periods, overnight and outside of the Kingston metropolitan area.
