Job Title: Offshore Mechanical Technician (MET)
Position Summary
The Offshore Mechanical Technician (MET) / Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of mechanical and rotating equipment on offshore installations. The role ensures optimal equipment performance, reliability, and safety in demanding offshore environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on Caterpillar and Waukesha engines
- Service and maintain generators and air compressors
- Maintain and troubleshoot Ingersoll Rand (IR) and Ariel compressors
- Conduct maintenance on crane engines, pumps, and fin fan cooling systems
- Carry out condition monitoring and report on equipment performance
- Diagnose faults and execute effective troubleshooting during breakdowns
- Implement and follow preventive (PM) and corrective maintenance (CM) programs to ensure high equipment uptime
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and prepare clear technical reports
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding capabilities
- Solid understanding of mechanical and rotating equipment systems
- Ability to work in high-pressure offshore environments
- Good communication skills and a proactive, positive attitude
- Detail-oriented with strong reporting and documentation skills
Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant technical certification in Mechanical Engineering or Rotating Equipment
- 10–15 years’ experience in offshore or industrial mechanical maintenance
- Hands-on experience with engines, compressors, and auxiliary systems
Work Environment
- Offshore installations (oil & gas platforms, rigs, or vessels)
- Rotational schedule with extended periods offshore
- Physically demanding conditions with exposure to harsh environments
