Manufacturing Operations Specialist
(Based in Kingston, Jamaica)

The Company owns two distilleries: New Yarmouth Estate in Clarendon and Appleton Estate in St Elizabeth.

The Manufacturing Operations Specialist provides support to manufacturing and maintenance leaders to ensure the efficient and effective operation of all administrative activities while taking lead to ensure all compliance related activities are completed in full and on time, to prevent any risk to the operations. The role is responsible, under the direction of the Manufacturing Director, and guidance of the direct manager for driving the execution of key management programs that seek to improve the performance and reporting requirements required from the Manufacturing Division and ensure Manufacturing and Maintenance is fully compliant with all Regulatory, Quality, Health, Safety and Sustainability Standards at all times.

What We Want From You….
The incumbent will be performing the following activities:
- Manage the collection, report development and distribution of key performance indices (KPI) data for all areas of Manufacturing (Kingston, Appleton and New Yarmouth).
- Manage the collection and reporting of regulatory, Quality, Health, Safety and Sustainability corrective action request (CARs) across the Manufacturing division including monthly reviews with key operation personnel to track and trend progress updates on resolving these CARs.
- Execute License Renewal for Private Excise Warehouses.
- Collate and process all excise log sheets ensuring accurate accounting.
- Prepare and process purchase orders using Coupa and SAP and processing of invoices.
- Request/follow up invoice from vendors to process payment.
- Assist in coordinating calibration and updating of all critical instruments ensuring all are up to date and defective gauges are replaced.
- Coordinate and ensure all work instructions are always up to date according to company standard.
- Prepare business documents, including Letters, Memos, Minutes, Gauges, Certificate of Origin, Certificate of Manufacturing Processes and Analysis.
- Maintain adequate supplies of raw/consumption materials, stationery and pantry items.
- Provide support for the coordination of department meetings, functions etc., and the organization of recognition/social functions.
- Execute internal audits of the manufacturing process to identify any gaps they may exist and represent a risk to operations.
- Coordinate the recording, preparation and distribution of action items from the Food Safety review meetings relating to Manufacturing and Maintenance.
- Develop and maintain a records management programme to ensure the effective storage and efficient retrieval of Manufacturing records related to compliance.
- Prepare monthly status reports for Production Non-conformance and Corrective/ preventive actions for management review.
- Perform weekly follow-up with each department to ensure corrective actions are executed on a timely basis for closure of CAPAs (Corrective Action/Preventative Action).
- Prepare monthly overtime reports to maintain budgetary efficiencies and departments' personnel management.
What Academic Achievements, Skills and Competencies You Will Bring….
- First degree from a recognized university
- Three (3) years' working experience within a similar environment
- Training/Certification in HACCP and Food Safety
- Effective communicate skills, both orally and in writing
- Good human relations and teamwork skills
- Good documentation and record management skills
- Basic knowledge of shop floor operations including working knowledge of the manufacturing and packaging process of rums, spirits and liqueurs
- Knowledge of the raw materials and processing aids used in the manufacturing process
- Working knowledge of warehouse procedures and inventory management
- Training in Root Cause Analysis Techniques
- Knowledge of the principles associated with Lean Manufacturing for process improvements
- Working understanding of Quality Management System/Software; ISO
- Training in Corrective Action and Preventative Action Process
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications: PowerPoint, Excel and MS Sharepoint
- Training in use of Coupa and SAP ERP Management Software
Working Conditions
- Required to walk or stand for extended periods of time and exposed to manufacturing conditions when doing audits e.g. High heat, high humidity, dust, dispersed particles, alcohol/vapor and highly corrosive substances.
- May be required to work outside normal working hours and sometimes on weekends
- The job includes visiting areas in the manufacturing from that may require the use of safety equipment (Personal Protective Equipment - PPE) to include but not limited to; safety glasses/goggles, gloves, safety boots/shoes & hearing protection)
- The job holder must therefore be able to comfortably wear the PPE necessary to safely carry out the job function.
