Clinical Instructor – Dental Hygiene (Part Time)
The Clinical Instructor is responsible for providing hands-on training and supervision to students in a clinical setting. They ensure that students develop the necessary skills, knowledge, and professional behaviours required for safe and effective patient care. Their responsibilities include, but are not limited to, demonstrating proper chairside assisting and radiographic techniques, reinforcing infection control protocols, monitoring student performance, and providing constructive feedback. The instructor also ensures compliance with regulatory standards and fosters a culture of professionalism and patient-centred care.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise and instruct students in clinical and laboratory settings.
Demonstrate and reinforce proper dental assisting techniques, infection control protocols, and patient management.
Evaluate student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback.
Ensure compliance with institutional, state, and national dental regulations.
Collaborate with faculty to integrate clinical instruction with theoretical coursework.
Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and competency assessments.
Provide guidance on professional ethics, communication, and teamwork in a dental setting.
Ensure the clinical environment is properly equipped, maintained, and organized for effective instruction.
Participate in faculty meetings, curriculum development, and program assessment activities.
Stay updated on industry trends, advancements, and best practices in dental assisting education.
ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS:
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
knowledge of current trends and methodologies in education and dental sciences.
knowledge of computer-based technology as used in clinical and educational environments including online teaching/learning
knowledge of dental regulations and legal issues for practice and education
knowledge of infection control issues and procedures
practicing as a Dental professional for over five (5) years
