Job Summary
The Instrument Maintenance Specialist is responsible for the installation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control systems to ensure accurate measurement, reliability, and safe operation of equipment. The role supports operational efficiency through adherence to technical standards and HSE requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform calibration, testing, and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems
- Diagnose and repair faults in instruments, control valves, transmitters, and related equipment
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure system reliability
- Maintain accurate records of calibration, maintenance activities, and system performance
- Ensure compliance with company standards, industry regulations, and HSE requirements
- Assist with installation, commissioning, and testing of new instrumentation systems
- Support troubleshooting and resolution of operational issues related to instrumentation
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to improve system performance and reliability
- Ensure proper handling and maintenance of tools and calibration equipment
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in instrumentation maintenance or a similar role
- Experience in industrial, oil & gas, or process plant environments preferred
- Familiarity with control systems, PLCs, and SCADA systems is an asset
Skills and Competencies
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Knowledge of instrumentation systems and calibration procedures
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and schematics
- Attention to detail and commitment to safety standards
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and under pressure
Working Conditions
- Field-based role within industrial or plant environments
- May require shift work, on-call duties, or extended hours based on operational needs
- Exposure to operational and potentially hazardous conditions
