RESEARCH ANALYST
BACKGROUND
The Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. in its quest to promote, assist and facilitate the efficient development of tourism and Barbados’ tourism product, is seeking to recruit an exceptionally skilled individual to fill the position of Research Analyst.
ROLE SUMMARY
The Research Analyst will support the collection, analysis and interpretation of tourism data and market intelligence. The successful candidate will play an important role in providing evidence-based insights that support marketing strategies, policy development and destination management initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain and regularly update an online databank of tourism market intelligence, statistics and industry insights.
- Conduct analysis of visitor trends, demand patterns and key indicators affecting tourism performance.
- Utilize analytical tools and information technology to collect, analyze, interpret and visualize tourism data.
- Assist with preparing reports, briefs, presentations and analytical summaries on market conditions, industry performance and emerging trends.
- Support the design and implementation of tourism-related surveys and research studies.
- Manage the collection, compilation and verification of tourism statistics from national and international sources.
- Liaise with relevant government agencies, industry partners, and international organizations to obtain and validate tourism data.
- Ensure the accuracy, integrity and reliability of research data and information disseminated by the organization.
- Provide research insights that support strategic marketing initiatives, tourism policy development and destination competitiveness.
- Monitor global travel trends, industry developments and policy issues impacting tourism markets.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Economics, International Business, Statistics, Tourism Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ relevant experience in a research, statistical, marketing, or data analysis environment.
- Experience in the collection, analysis, and interpretation of quantitative and qualitative data.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Microsoft Excel, SPSS, or similar statistical software.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) would be advantageous.
- Familiarity with financial processes and basic economic indicators is desirable.
- Sound analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
- Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- The ability to present complex data clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Results-oriented, with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Sound planning, organizing and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- General knowledge of the tourism industry would be an asset.
