JOB TITLE: Assistant Accountant – Inventory & Costing
REPORTS TO: Accountant
PURPOSE
Functional responsibility for the accounting records and respective reconciliations in respect of Inventory and other related balances.
EDUCATION
- Undergraduate degree, preferably in Accounting or a related discipline.
- Level 2 ACCA or equivalent.
REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
- At least 3 years’ experience in a computerised accounting environment within the retail sector.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications with emphasis on MS Excel.
- Experience with Oracle Financials would be an asset.
- Strong organizational/coordination skills and excellent at time management.
- Analytical and problem –solving skills.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform on-going checks and reconciliation of the Inventory and Cost of Sales portfolios, including, but not limited to:
- Conducting daily checks of the subledgers and corresponding GL balances to ensure that accounting entries are being cleared as intended.
- Identifying and resolving reconciling items on a timely basis - within two weeks.
- Monthly reconciliation of Goods in Transit (GIT) to the General Ledger.
- Monthly reconciliation of Goods Receipt Note (GRN) to the General Ledger.
- Monthly reconciliation of warranty balances.
- Analysis and monitoring of assigned GL accounts.
- Supervise the Costing function.
- Any other tasks assigned that will assist in achieving the purpose stated above and or the company’s mission.
