Damus Limited is looking to expand its professional resource base and is seeking experienced, results-driven Project Engineers in the fields of Mechanical, Civil/Structural, Industrial and/or Integrated (Multiple Discipline Coordination).
Job Summary
The Project Engineer is responsible for assisting the Manager – Projects or designee in executing projects in accordance with the planned schedule and defined project scope or in estimating, engineering or operating functions.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- As required, review tender documents and prepare engineering/project work plans and budgets; develop schedules; and generate cost estimates and adjustments.
- Participate in site visits, inspections and performance testing activities.
- Assist in the development of Project Execution Plans, technical work procedures and method statements for projects.
- Manage engineering deliverables, technical reviews and interdisciplinary interfaces.
- Monitor and track project schedule, cost, quality and risk; provide daily cost reports.
- Support procurement, construction and commissioning activities.
- As required, function in the capacity of the main technical advisor on project site(s) for sub-contractors and craft personnel, as well as act as direct liaison between home office and the site.
- Coordinate the preparation of project schedule, cash flow projection and project ‘S’ curve throughout the life of the project and prepare updates with comparison with actual versus projected with schedule updates and analysis.
- Prepare progress reports, technical documentation and change management records.
- Track job/work in progress to determine project’s ‘earn value’ on a weekly basis and submit calculations to Accounts Receivables for invoicing throughout the life of the project to completion.
KEY COMPETENCIES / REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE
- Strong command of MS Projects and/ or Primavera software.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and databases.
- Knowledgeable in the use and application of engineering codes, standards and regulations that govern the design and construction of storage tanks, pressure vessels, structural steelwork, piping system and foundation.
- Sound knowledge in key construction codes and standards (API STD 650 / API STD 653; ACI 318; ASME B31.3; B31.4 and B31.8).
- Basic knowledge on the use of ASME Section II (Materials) and on the ASTM set of standards for testing of materials.
- Ability to review tender documents/various scope definitions, identify any risks/obstacles/contingency plans to mitigate risks and convert into cost/value.
- Strong technical and commercial awareness.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, develop isometrics for all areas (structural, piping, tank, painting, rigging and surveying); quantify materials and quantities.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Invitation to Bid Process (ITB), selection and management of sub-contractors; definition of deliverables for sub-contractors.
- Ability to understand clauses of the contract and how they apply to the job, the process and codes.
- Ability to conduct scope verification upon project completion.
- Effective communication skills (verbal, non-verbal and written).
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
- B.Sc. Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Civil, Integrated).
- Professional Certification in Project Management.
- Demonstrated competence and/or competencies normally acquired over a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the oil and gas/construction industry or fifteen (15) years relevant experience as a Senior Technician in upstream and downstream energy, oil and gas/construction industry.
- Demonstrated experience in project coordination and execution.
- Strong knowledge of project controls, scheduling, and contract administration.
- Proficiency in MS Project/Primavera and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Professional Engineering registration (or working toward registration) is an asset.
- Training and/or certification in management and supervisory skills.
