SENIOR MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST (HPC/MDT 2)
Salary Scale $ 3,759,184.00 - $4,468,488.00 per annum
Reporting to the Chief Medical Technologist the incumbent’s core responsibilities will include:
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performing routine and special procedures under the supervision of the Chief Medical Technologist
- Preparing quality control material and calibrators
- Assisting the Head of Department with the development and monitoring of quality control programmes
- Performing analysis on specimen for Hematology, Chemistry, Serology and Blood Banking
- Assuming responsibility for the overall function of the department in the absence of the Head of Department
- Assisting the Head of Department with reviewing, checking, and signing of reports
- Providing technical guidance to Junior Medical Technologist and other Laboratory personnel
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Advanced Knowledge of the fundamentals of Clinical Chemistry, Microbiology, Hematology, and Blood Banking
- Demonstrate professionalism with patients/clients, lab personnel, and other Health Care Professionals
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology from an accredited institution
- At least four (4) years working experience in a Clinical Laboratory
- Laboratory general, specialty, or sub-specialty training
- Current registration with the Council for Professional Supplementary to Medicine
- Certificate in Supervisory Management would be an asset
