A well-established food manufacturing company is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Cost Accountant to support the organisation’s financial management and cost control processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for analysing production costs, monitoring inventory valuation, and providing management with accurate cost data to support strategic decision-making and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain and update standard costing systems and costing templates for new and existing products
• Prepare monthly manufacturing cost variance analyses and investigate significant variances
• Monitor inventory valuation, including work-in-process and finished goods
• Prepare detailed cost reports and analyses for management highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost control initiatives within the manufacturing operations
• Conduct value chain analyses to identify opportunities for improving margins and operational efficiency
• Prepare costing estimates for new products and product modifications, including materials, labour, and overhead costs
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes related to cost accounting
• Collaborate with operations, procurement, supply chain, and finance teams to improve cost management
• Assist with capital expenditure (CAPEX) evaluations and financial analyses
• Ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and company accounting policies
• Provide documentation and explanations during internal and external audits
Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or ACCA Level II or equivalent qualification
• CMA certification or progress toward certification would be an asset
• 3–5 years’ experience in cost accounting or manufacturing accounting
• Experience working within a manufacturing or production environment would be advantageous
Key Competencies
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, including standard costing and inventory management
• Proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and financial analysis tools
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
