ACCOUNTING AND ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER
Job Summary
The Accounting and Administrative Officer is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with payroll, managing accounts payable/receivable, and overseeing general office administrative duties. This role ensures compliance with financial regulations and supports efficient daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Accounting & Finance (70%)
- Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded.
- Maintain and update accounts receivable and payable, including invoicing and payment collection.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger accounts monthly.
- Assist with payroll processing, tax filings, and preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and profit/loss reports.
- Manage petty cash and expense claims, ensuring compliance with organizational policies.
- Assist with preparing audit schedules and serve as a point contact for internal or external auditors.
- Administration (30%)
- Manage office operations, including ordering supplies, maintaining equipment, and handling mail.
- Organize and maintain digital and physical filing systems for administrative and financial documents.
- Liaise with vendors, service providers, and clients.
- Schedule meetings, take minutes, and assist with travel arrangements, where necessary.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
- ACCA Level 1 will be an asset.
- At least three (3) years working experience as an Accounting/Administrative Officer or similar role.
- Solid knowledge of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles (double-entry).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (QuickBooks preferred).
- Strong knowledge of Jamaican accounting principles and tax regulations (GOJ guidelines)
- Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
