KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Maintenance Technician has responsibility to conduct maintenance and operational activities in order to increase equipment availability, equipment reliability, changeover effectiveness and work to meet production targets with minimum supervision.
- Provide feedback on special projects and preventative maintenance activities.
- Advise the Maintenance Planner/Team Lead of any variances from the daily work schedule.
- Conduct maintenance on plant equipment and troubleshoot failures to improve equipment uptime.
- Identify ad-hoc maintenance work and communicate with the Maintenance Planner and Team Lead.
- Ensure no equipment modifications are made without a valid Maintenance Request (MR) or Work Order.
- Provide technical support to production on proper equipment operation.
- Support team problem-solving and provide on-the-job guidance to technicians on best methods, tools, and equipment.
- Conduct plant walkthroughs to identify bottlenecks affecting production output.
- Ensure full compliance with the Work Order system.
- Execute maintenance work safely and maintain a clean job site after completion.
- Operate in accordance with regulatory requirements, internal standards, and third-party management systems.
- Follow Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental Management procedures.
- Maintain GMP housekeeping standards and adhere to FSSC22000 food safety standards.
- Perform operational checks including Cleaver Brooks boiler blowdown, compressors, RO and chill water systems.
- Inspect chlorine dosing, pH correction systems, ozone machines, videojets/laserjet date coders, and bottle inspection systems.
- Maintain logbooks and submit maintenance requests as required.
- Perform any other related duties within the scope of the role.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS / COMPETENCIES
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:
- Level III certification from HEART NTEI in Mechanical Maintenance or an equivalent discipline
- Minimum four (4) years’ experience in a manufacturing plant environment
- Sound knowledge of Industrial Mechanical Systems including HVAC’s, conveyors, pumps, and filling machines
- Extensive experience troubleshooting mechanical systems
- Effective communication skills – written and verbal with the ability to report technical information with clarity
- Trained in the use of MS Office Suite, Access Program, and CMMS
- Must be able to exercise flexibility towards work coverage
- Meticulous, with the ability to function well individually and on a team within a demanding work environment
