The Audit and Compliance Officer has primary responsibility for ensuring that the company adheres to all regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry best practices. Also, evaluating the company’s financial and operational business activities while ensuring that the company follows proper procedures and functions effectively and efficiently.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular compliance risk assessments and audits to assess adherence to policies and procedures, industry standards and best practice as well as identify areas of non-compliance or potential risks.
- Review and assess internal controls related to the microfinance operations and financial reporting.
- Reviewing financial statements to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Evaluating the efficiency and effectiveness of operational processes, including loan origination, underwriting, disbursement, delinquencies and collection strategies, to ensure adherence to policies and procedures, relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines.
- Monitor and analyze regulatory developments to ensure the company remains up-to-date with changing requirements.
- Investigate and resolve compliance issues, including conducting internal investigations and implementing corrective actions.
- Recommend improvements to internal control frameworks to enhance compliance, operational efficiency and cost savings.
- Ensure compliance with data protection laws and regulations, particularly client information and financial data.
- Tracking previously identified issues, the implementation of audit recommendations and verifying the effectiveness of corrective actions.
- Prepare and submit reports to senior management and regulatory authorities on compliance activities and findings.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, external regulators, and industry associations to address and support compliance-related matters.
- Provide guidance and training to staff on compliance matters to promote a culture of compliance throughout the organization.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Graduate Degree or equivalent professional qualification in AML/CFT Compliance, Law, Business, Finance, and/or law enforcement or related field.
- Minimum 3 years working experience in an AML/CFT Compliance environment.
