JOB SUMMARY

The Marketing and Public Relations Officer (MPRO) is responsible for developing, implementing and executing strategic marketing plans for the company in order to attract potential customers and retain existing ones. The incumbent’s daily tasks include managing and coordinating assigned staff, leading market research efforts to uncover the viability of current and existing products/services, customer service and liaising with media organizations and advertising agencies. He/she will also be required to provide guidance and direction on the marketing strategies to be implemented to increase the company’s income and profitability. Additionally, the incumbent is also responsible for building, maintaining and managing the company’s reputation. Therefore, the Officer will strive to understand and support the company so that key messages to defined target audiences will be communicated and establish goodwill between the company and the public.

        PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES

Marketing Responsibilities

• Manage daily marketing activities for the company;
• Liaise with the relevant Manager(s) in developing the marketing strategy for the company in line with company objectives;
• Co-ordinate marketing campaigns with sales activities;
• Get new business for the company including secondary development;
• Create and distribute all marketing material in line with marketing plans;
• Plan and implement promotional campaigns;
• Share responsibility for brand management and corporate identity;
• Prepare online and print marketing campaigns;
• Monitor and report on effectiveness of marketing communications;
• Maintain effective internal communications to ensure that all relevant company functions are kept informed of marketing objectives;
• Analyze potential strategic partner relationships for company marketing;
• Manage equipment supply, material and rental for the company;
• Manage rent and utilities for the Commercial Centre and the service station, and
• Manage customer feedback, customer appreciation and customer relationship.

Public Relations Responsibilities

• Develops public relations plans and strategies;
• Laises with and prepares approved responses to enquiries from media, individuals and other stakeholders;
• Research, write and distribute press releases as it relates to the company’s policies and in times of crisis, acts as a mediator between the company and the public by providing approved responses to queries;
• Conduct research to find out the concerns and expectations of Customers and other Stakeholders;
• Organize and execute public education campaigns and assists in implementing and promoting activities aimed at fostering and sustaining good relationship with adjoining communities;
• Collate and analyse media coverage;
• Prepare and co-ordinate the production of brochures, handouts, leaflets, videos, photographs and multimedia programs;
• Write, and edit in-house magazines, case studies, speeches, articles and annual reports;
• Organize events such as press conferences, exhibitions, press tours and photograph opportunities;
• Maintain and update information on the company’s website and social media sites;
•   Create and place advertisements and public notices with media houses as instructed;
• Requests and liaises with contracted Public Relations Company as required.
