Assistant Manager – Maintenance Projects
JOB OVERVIEW:
To perform a pivotal role in leading and managing projects from conception to completion. The responsibilities include developing comprehensive project plans, collaborating with stakeholders, and ensuring the successful delivery of projects within scope, timeline, and budget. The incumbent will provide leadership to project teams, mentor junior engineers, and foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop comprehensive project plans outlining scope, objectives, timelines, and resource requirements
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define project goals and deliverables, ensuring alignment from initiation through completion
- Manage project schedules and milestones, implementing corrective actions to address delays or scope changes
- Develop and manage project budgets, including monitoring expenditures and implementing cost-control measures
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks, developing and executing risk mitigation strategies
- Communicate project status, updates, and key milestones to internal and external stakeholders
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, managing expectations and ensuring overall client satisfaction
- Provide leadership to project teams, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture and addressing conflicts as they arise
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards and health and safety requirements, including obtaining required permits and approvals
- Prepare and present routine and ad hoc project reports as designated by the Maintenance Manager
- Performs other related duties as may be required by the job function and as directed by the Maintenance Manager/Designate
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Requires work on a rotational shift system including weekends and holidays as required; Exposure to dusty, wet, hot and noisy environments; Some work areas may be air-conditioned; Tasks may require working at heights; Overtime may be required based on operational needs
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
- Must wear all safety gear, personal protective equipment and uniforms provided by the Company, at all times while on duty
- Adherence to all Company safety policies and procedures is mandatory
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- A minimum of seven (7) years experience within the engineering field at a senior level
- Certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP) or other relevant certifications will be considered as an asset
- Understanding of applicable Safe Quality Food (SQF) code requirements.
- Sound knowledge of OSH Authority Regulations as it applies to manufacturing.
- Familiarity with and track record of adherence to HSSE Policy.
- Sound human resource management capabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
- Demonstrated organization skills, personal dependability and commitment.
