ROLE PURPOSE
The Sales Representative is responsible for the profitable promotion, marketing, and sale of the Company’s range of products while delivering a consistently high standard of customer service. The role places strong emphasis on managing assigned sales routes, channels, and customer accounts, as well as ensuring the timely collection of all payments in accordance with Company policy.
General Responsibilities
The incumbent will be expected to actively grow sales, strengthen customer relationships, and contribute to the overall commercial success of the Company while maintaining professionalism, integrity, and compliance with all Company standards.
Specific Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Promote and sell the Company’s products, continually identifying and pursuing opportunities to introduce products to new and existing customers.
- Place customer orders accurately and follow up to ensure timely delivery of products.
- Address customer enquiries, complaints, and billing queries promptly, courteously, and professionally.
- Manage customer accounts within approved credit limits and in strict accordance with Company credit policies.
- Collect revenues and process authorized account adjustments where required.
- Keep management informed of sales activities by submitting accurate and timely reports, including daily visit reports and territory analyses.
- Monitor in-store product displays to ensure optimal visibility and compliance with merchandising standards.
- Verify inventory levels at customer locations where the Company’s products are sold and ensure adequate product availability.
- Assist in the execution of advertising and promotional campaigns.
- Conduct market research as assigned from time to time.
- Maintain up-to-date working knowledge of all Company products, services, pricing structures, and promotional offerings.
- Provide product and service recommendations tailored to customer needs.
- Conduct in-store promotional activities, including product sampling, as required.
- Attend meetings, training sessions, and product development seminars as required.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by management.
- Ensure full compliance with all Health and Safety policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of five (5) GCE/CXC passes, including English Language and Mathematics.
- At least five (5) years’ proven experience within the Hardware, Agricultural, and/or Automobile industries.
- Proficiency in the use of point-of-sale handheld devices and related sales systems.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and planning abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be mobile, with availability and willingness to travel throughout Trinidad and Tobago.
- Must hold a valid Driver’s Permit.
- Must own and maintain a reliable motor vehicle.
