Job Summary:
The Operations/Supply Chain Manager is responsible for the end-to-end management of the company’s supply chain operations, ensuring the efficient, compliant, and cost-effective flow of pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and wellness products. This role oversees purchasing, inbound logistics, warehousing, demand planning & forecasting, and outbound logistics, ensuring product availability, regulatory compliance, and service excellence to customers and partners. He/she will lead a cross-functional team, collaborate with suppliers and regulatory bodies, and drive initiatives to optimize inventory, improve operational efficiency, and support business growth.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Purchasing & Supplier Management
- Lead procurement strategy for pharmaceuticals, health & wellness products, and medical supplies.
- Manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, pricing, and lead times.
- Ensure all purchases meet regulatory requirements (Ministry of Health, Chemistry Food & Drugs, CARPHA, etc.).
- Track vendor performance and quality compliance.
- Conduct cost-saving initiatives without compromising product quality.
Demand Planning & Forecasting
- Develop accurate forecasts based on sales trends, seasonality, MOH requirements, and market insights.
- Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Finance to ensure alignment of demand plans with business objectives.
- Monitor stock levels, expiries, and slow-moving items to minimize losses.
- Implement forecasting software or tools to enhance accuracy and visibility.
Inbound Logistics
- Oversee import logistics for pharmaceuticals and wellness products.
- Manage coordination of international shipments, customs clearance, regulatory documentation, and port operations.
- Ensure cold chain compliance where applicable.
- Optimize freight rates, shipping modes, and delivery schedules.
Warehousing & Inventory Management
- Lead warehouse operations ensuring adherence to Good Distribution Practices (GDP).
- Oversee receiving, put-away, storage, cycle counts, and inventory integrity.
- Implement layout improvements and warehouse automation/technology upgrades.
- Ensure environmental controls for sensitive pharmaceutical products.
- Enforce health, safety, and compliance standards.
Outbound Logistics & Distribution
- Manage order fulfillment, route planning, and delivery performance.
- Ensure timely and accurate deliveries to pharmacies, hospitals, distributors, and retail partners.
- Optimize local distribution costs and last-mile logistics.
- Ensure cold chain integrity where required.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure all supply chain operations comply with GDP, import regulations, and MOH requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation for audits, inspections, and certifications.
- Collaborate with QA/QC teams to resolve quality issues.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and develop teams across procurement, logistics, and warehouse operations.
- Establish KPIs, conduct performance reviews, and implement training programs.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Strategic & Operational Projects
- Drive supply chain modernization initiatives (automation, ERP upgrades, data analytics).
- Support business expansion, new product launches, and strategic partnerships.
- Lead cost-reduction, efficiency, and service-level improvement projects.
Export & Regional Shipping Experience
- Proven experience managing export operations, including documentation, customs compliance, scheduling, and coordination with regional carriers and freight forwarders.
- Strong understanding of Caribbean trade routes, regulations, and shipping practices.
- Ability to ensure accurate preparation of commercial invoices, packing lists, Certificates of Origin, and regulatory export documentation.
Free Zone Operations Knowledge
- In‑depth knowledge of Free Zone regulations, processes, and compliance requirements, including inventory control, bonded goods, and movement of cargo in and out of Free Zone facilities.
- Experience managing or overseeing a Free Zone warehouse and working with Free Zone authorities to ensure adherence to operational and reporting standards.
- Ability to maintain accurate records, reconcile stock under Free Zone rules, and support audits or inspections.
Warehouse & Logistics Coordination
- Hands‑on experience coordinating warehouse activities related to exports, order preparation, and dispatch within Free Zone environments.
- Understanding of best practices in warehouse safety, stock rotation, and logistics efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations, Business, or related field.
- Professional certification (preferred): APICS CPIM/CSCP, CIPS, PMP, or IATA Logistics.
- Minimum 7–10 years’ supply chain experience, preferably in pharmaceutical or FMCG distribution.
- Strong knowledge of GDP, MOH import regulations, and pharmaceutical documentation requirements.
- Experience with ERP systems, WMS, and forecasting tools.
