Job Summary
A reputable funeral service organization is seeking a Human Resources Manager to oversee and manage all aspects of the human resource function in a sensitive, service-driven environment. The successful candidate will support management in maintaining high standards of professionalism, compassion, discipline, and compliance while fostering a respectful and productive workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities
Human Resource Administration
- Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and systems aligned with organizational needs and Jamaican labour laws.
- Provide HR advisory support to management and supervisory staff.
- Employee Relations & Industrial Discipline
- Manage employee relations matters including grievances, disciplinary proceedings, and conflict resolution.
- Conduct investigations and disciplinary hearings in accordance with company policy and labour legislation.
- Ensure fair, consistent, and confidential handling of employee matters.
Performance Management
- Implement and manage employee performance appraisal systems.
- Support supervisors in performance reviews, probation assessments, and performance improvement plans.
- Monitor staff attendance, conduct, and productivity.
Training & Development
- Identify training needs and coordinate staff training programmes.
- Support the development of staff professionalism, customer service standards, and workplace conduct.
- Maintain training records and monitor training outcomes.
Compliance & Records Management
- Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements including employment contracts, leave entitlements, and statutory deductions.
- Maintain accurate, confidential employee records and HR documentation.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a human resource management role.
- Sound knowledge of Jamaican labour laws, industrial relations, and disciplinary procedures.
- Experience working in a service-oriented or sensitive environment (e.g. funeral services, healthcare, hospitality) would be an asset.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills.
- High level of professionalism, discretion, empathy, and integrity.
